2013 Raptor News

One of the more disappointed drivers at Loton Park over the weekend was the sensation of the 2012 season, GWR Raptor driver Jos Goodyear.

Having starred everywhere in the British Hillclimb Championship last year, especially at Loton Park, a lot was expected from the 2013 Raptor.

Unfortunately things didn’t quite go according to plan…

The Raptor appeared at Loton Park, complete with its methanol engine, flappy paddle gear shift and dayglo yellow Valentino Rossi-style numbers!

It completed one practice run before being withdrawn with a suspected oil system issue.

Constructor Graeme Wight Jnr told Our Correspondent that, following the installation of a simpler diff mounting and some weight reduction elsewhere, plus Extreme Engines finding an extra 15bhp, the car now exceeds the magic 1000bhp/tonne. That’s┬ámore than Juniors V6 Gould-GR51 was when he won the BHC in 2001 & 2002!!

Stunning work Graeme, hope the ‘wee beasty’ is back in action again soon.
