All Crossed-up

Midland Championship Contender Tim Cross is usually seen on the hills these days as co-driver to Ray Lohr in the Caterham 7.

Tim Cross used Son Ben’s Yaris at Loton

At the Midland and British Championship finale at Loton Park last month, Tim had a slight change of pace with a run in a saloon car.

Tim and his Son Ben have been building a Toyota Yaris rally car over the past few months and Tim brought it to Loton to try it out.

Ben will run in Formula 1000 rally events with the car during 2013.

Formula 1000 is a great initiative to get younger drivers into the rally world by letting them compete from the age of 14 until 17 (as long as the co-driver is over 21 and NOT the drivers parent!) on tarmac stage events with cars of up to 1000cc.

Despite a spin which raised Ben’s blood pressure if not Tim’s during practice, Tim eventually worked down to a 73.43s during the competition runs on Sunday.

Have fun on the airfields next year Ben, and make sure you let us know how you get on!
