Autosport Awards

It was very pleasant to see a couple of hillclimb references in the current edition of Autosport Magazine this week.

Our Correspondent does a great job penning reports for the mag, but there is rarely any mention of the sport during the off-season, so these mentions are particularly welcome at this time of year.

That great fan of Club Motorsport Marcus Pye, himself a very useful hillclimb competitor, talks about 1995 BHC title winner Andy Priaulx and his rise from Le Val des Terres to Le Mans in the Humble Pye column.

The most important reference to our sport however comes in a section reviewing the top rivals and cars in National Racing for 2012.

Joining an array circuit racing cars (mainly GT3 cars from the World’s top manufacturers) in 9th place in the ‘Top 10 Cars of the Year’ is the OMS-Powertec 25 which Trevor Willis used to break Gould’s 14 year stranglehold on the British Championship.

It is great to see the sport getting such recognition in the wider motorsport community.
