Autosport Show… Big Pilbeam Update

One of the many hillclimb & Sprint visitors to the Goodridge stand at the Autosport International Show was top British Sprinter Mike Musson.

Towards the end of 2011, Mike acquired the hairiest car on the British Hillclimb scene with the intention of taming it in the wide open spaces of the race circuits of the UK.

The ex. Goodyear/Mason/Day Pilbeam-Judd MP97 proved to be a real handful for all of its previous drivers whilst on the hills, but Mike felt that the longer, faster sprint circuits would allow the car to ‘have it’s head’.

He was correct, and his first attempt at the BSC in 2012 saw him land 3rd overall in the series.

Musson will be back for more in 2013, and is making some radical set-up changes to the big beasty in order to bring him closer to the pace of BSC winner Stewart Robb and his MP88 version.

The car will feature MUCH stiffer springing for the new season, which should allow it’s more advanced aero package to work much more consistently at the 180mph+ that the top sprinters hit on the longer straights!
