BHC is Back!

After over six months of withdrawl symptoms, this weekend at Prescott Hillclimb the top competitors hit the slopes of the Gloucestershire venue as the opening rounds of the British Hillclimb Championship take place.

Rob Stevens will be back to defend his Midland Hillclimb Championship at Prescott.

This season, there should be a real battle-royal at the top of the timing sheets as the big-hitters will be joined by a couple of little cars which are now capable of outright wins at all venues.

2013 star of the season Alex Summers proved that a good blown bike-engine can beat the uber-powerful V8s and as a result of the progress he and classmate Paul Haimes made in 2013, the duo will be joined by a couple of pace-setters from the 1600cc Racing Car Class in the 2-litres. The most high-profile of the cars which have lost some capacity but gained a compressor for the new season is the stunning GWR Raptor of Jos Goodyear. The GWR team, led by double British Champ Graeme Wight Jnr, have gone down the supercharged route with the Raptor. The other big-name 1600cc-2000cc converts are Dave Uren and Nicola Menzies who have added a Mistral Performance built turbo motor to the ex. Will Hall Force PC. It will be fascinating to see how these two highly-succesful, but now highly-modified packages get on during the season.

Amongst the Unlimited Capacity runners the big-hitters from the past couple of seasons have returned, including reigning title holder Scott Moran in a new-look Gould GR61X. The familiar, family run car is now in a very fetching shade of grey thanks to the design skills of the ever-creative Rich Danby and sponsorship from the Swift Group.

We will be tweeting from Prescott all weekend, so if you can’t be there then following the action via for the times and our own Twitter Feed for the meat on the bones!
