Big Award for Sturmz!

Whilst having a little look through the excellent Hillclimb and Sprint Association website over the weekend, we spotted some very good news.

Everyone reading this site should be aware of the excellent contribution made to the sport by our old mate Jerry Sturman over the past 40 years or so.

Jerry truly is the voice of the hills, with his superb ‘wall of sound’ commentary being heard across the country from Wiscombe to Doune, and from Craigantlet to Harewood.

As well as the superb trackside commentary, Jerry has also edited Speedscene Magazine on & off for the past 22 years, was the Autosport & Motoring News scribe for many years until handing the baton on to Our Correspondent and also wrote the scripts and added his commentary to the Brayspeed/Motors TV coverage of the BHC.

With all of his journalistic credits it is very easy to forget that Jerry was also a very succesful competitor for many years, starting in Lotus Elan and graduating through the sport to the 1100cc Racing Car Class at National Level.

As a thank you for all of his efforts over the years the Hillclimb and Association marked Jerry’s retirement from editing Speedscene by presenting him with a VERY well deserved Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the sport at the recent HSA Awards lunch.

Brilliant stuff Jerry, and very well deserved, see ya for a bacon butty at the Gurston Test Day!
