DJ’s New Design

We are pleased to reveal that yet another brand new design of Speed Hillclimb single-seater has been unveiled.

DJ Racecars

The DJ Racecars base up at High Peak, Derbyshire has had a very busy year running Wallace Menzies’ Firestorm chassis and Alex Summers’ Firehawk chassis in the British Hillclimb Championship as well as conducting work on the Firehawks of Simon Marsh and Richard Hollingworth.

Despite all of this work, Del Quigley and the team have also found time to design a brand new chassis for use as a motorcycle-engined single-seater.

The car features a manufactured in-house carbon fibre tub cured in the company‚Äôs new autoclave housed in their new composites building, a tubular and aluminium sub frame/engine cradle and DJ/SMART wings front & rear. Suspension will be by twin wishbones, with pushrods front and rear, and a front monoshock set-up similar to Wallace Menzies’ over-2000cc class DJ Firestorm.

A variety of classes are open to any perspective buyers, including upto-1100cc (with Suzuki GSXR1000 engine), upto-1600cc (with Suzuki Hayabusa engine) and upto-2000cc (with blown Suzuki Hayabusa engine).

The CAD stage of design should be completed in the next few weeks with the long road of machining tooling & moulds starting just after that.

The first chassis is intended to be driven by DJ Racecars boss Del Quigley, along with the companies CAD expert Andy Smith and selected invited guest drivers.

It is fantastic to see another manufacturer committing the huge resources required to produce a carbon car for our sport, has there ever been so much chassis choice at the very top end of British Hillclimbing?

Great stuff guys can’t wait to see the car in the flesh!
