Duo Return to the Hills

It was good to see Tom Brown back competing on the hills again over the weekend. Former hillclimb regular, and a part of the Brown hillclimbing dynasty, has been running on the circuits in recent seasons and currently competes in the BARC Clubmans Cup.

Richard Mallock fettles the Mallock MK21

Tom was sharing a Mallock Mk21 circuit car in the Hillclimb Supersports class with Mallock Sports boss (and son of marque founder Major Arthur) Richard Mallock.

The car they used has been stored with Mallock by a customer who had said ‘do what you like with it’, so Tom suggested a hillclimb. And if you gonna do just one hillclimb, then where better than Doune!?

Although Tom has been a Doune regular over the years in vehicles ranging from a Jedi 500 to a Gould-DFR, Richard had only been once before and that was a good few years ago.

The team got to grips with the car quickly though (despite losing a nose in the top paddock!) and Tom was only beaten to the class win by a cracking run from the Mallock of local driver George Emmerson.

Great to see you both back on the hills guys, hopefully it won’t be long until you have another go!
