Generation AMR

Westcountryman David Appleby is best known for his exploits in rallying and in circuit racing, having run programs for Metro 6R4s and for Subaru WR Cars.

It is less well known that he has also had quite a hand in the building and running of Speed Hillclimb cars as well. Most of the MG Metro 6R4s that have been run on the hills over the years have had parts supplied by David as he acquired most of the spares when the works Cowley factory was closed.

In recent years David has continued his 25 year relationship with Prodrive by running Aston Martins. Initially building the stunning Aston Martin V8 Vantage rally car David, along with son James, has latterly run GT4 spec Astons in the European GT Series under the team name of Generation AMR.

Generation AMR have also used Wiscombe Park hillclimb in Devon for some of their corperate activities, including scaring potential Aston buyers with the GT4 & rally cars. Here is a cracking onboard run up Wiscombe with David Appleby at the wheel and an impressive approach to Sawbench Hairpin.

The GT4 V8 Vantage would make an absolutely stunning hillclimb car, and we are aware of at least 3 hillclimbers who have sampled this car or the rally version. Could one of these beasties be coming to a hill near you one day!?

Generation AMR have recently moved to new premises near Brackley, Oxfordshire and are rumoured to be running a GT3 specification Aston Martin Vantage in 2012. This is a brand new Prodrive built, V12 engined┬ácar, which turned a wheel for the first time last week. Check out the factories footage of it’s 1st ever run.
