Gurston Supporting the Stars Appeal

We have received a good news story from Gurston Down this week:

The organisers of Gurston Down Speed Hillclimb are proud and delighted to announce that they will be supporting the Salisbury District Hospital Stars Appeal in 2012.

This is the very first time that any charity has been formally and regularly supported by Gurston Down Speed Hillclimb, Salisbury’s local motorsport venue. And as club chairman Doug Auld stated ‘the Stars Appeal leapt out as the obvious local charity for us to support. The Gurston Down organising committee and I are delighted to put our weight behind various schemes that we will introduce to raise funds at our events during the season, and hopefully our profile will help to raise lots of money to support the fantastic work that the Stars Appeal is doing.’

Visitors and competitors alike will be able to contribute through collections and other fund raising schemes at all eight Gurston Down meetings this year.

On behalf of the Stars Appeal David Cates commented ‘we are delighted that Gurston Down Speed Hillclimb will be supporting us during 2012 by holding collections and other fundraising initiatives at their race meetings. Their support will make a real difference for local people in Hospital by helping the Stars Appeal continue to fund charitable projects across many different wards and departments at the Hospital. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Gurston Down committee for their kind support of our work.’

It raises money to create the best possible experience for patients and their families by funding extra care and equipment over and above that provided by the NHS.
