Hot Competition at Loton!

Hagley and District Light Car Club ran their traditional July clubby weekend on 13th & 14th of July with a pair of one-day club events at the excellent Loton Park venue in Shropshire.

Chris Aspinall Empire Wraith

Chris Aspinall was overall runner-up in the brand new Empire Wraith (thanks to Our Correspondent).

Both Saturday and Sunday saw a good mix of two, three and four wheel-mounted competitors on the hill, and the stunning mid summer weather only made things even better!

Slick-shod Westfield SEi driver Andy outpaced all of the single-seaters and the bikers to claim FTD on the Saturday, ahead of Felix Summers in the family OMS CF and Mike Sankey in his 1800cc Caterham Superlight. Martin Robbins was fourth on scratch and fastest of the 2 wheeled brigade on his 750cc KTM.

Sunday saw the arrival of an 1100cc Racing Car Class full of Midland Championship contenders all getting some extra practice in before the Gurston Down Midland round next weekend. This class also included the competition debut of the brand new Empire Wraith (as it has now been Christened) in the hands of co-owners Clive Austin and Chris Aspinall.

OMS 2000M driver Simon Andrews claimed a dominant FTD on the day with a 50.33s run, Aspinall took the runner-up spot in the Wraith ahead of Midland & Leaders contender Darren Gumley (Force HC). John Stockley and Andrew’s co-driver Bernard Kevill completed the top five.
