Ladies Day at Shelsley

The May Midlander last weekend had a couple of Feature Classes, one of which was for members of the British Women Racing Drivers Club.

BWRDC Club Shelsley Walsh

The BWRDC have been regular visitors to The World Famous venue over the past 10 years or so, but this year there was an extra reason for taking part… 2012 is the 50th anniversary of the club’s founding.

Two classes were included in the event for Saloon & Sports Cars and for Sports Libre & Racing Cars. Both of these classes were due to be contested on handicap.

However, despite the handicap bogey times being issued to the competitors on Sunday morning, it appears as though nobody has explained what the criteria of the handicaps was. So at the time of writing (Tuesday evening) nobody involved knows who has won the classes!

What we can tell you though is that multiple BWRDC Hillclimb Champion Jo Hodgson was fastest on the road in the Saloon & Sports split with the Kings Mews Elan, whilst Shelsley regular Shirley Tewson won on scratch in the Sports Libre & Racing Car class with the big V8 Pilbeam.

Whatever happens with the results, we are sure that all six of the drivers that took part had great fun, and that was the ultimate aim of the day.
