Midland Speed Decided

Longtime VW/Audi stalwart and former British Sprint Championship contender with a Reynard F3, Fred Currell has claimed the 2012 Midland Speed Championship in his Audi A3 road car.

This series seems to have a somewhat broad definition of the Midland, with events as far afield as Anglesey & Brands Hatch, but nonetheless has a great following and produces some close competition.

Although very sprint focused, the contenders still visit Harewood, Loton Park, Prescott, Shelsley Walsh and Wiscombe Park each year and is well worth considering if you are looking for some good club competition and a healthy selection of venues in 2013.

Currell’s aggressive driving style paid off over the year and he took the title by a healthy margin. There was a cracking battle for 2nd overall however, as James Kerr (205 GTi) and the flying Sarah Bosworth (Lotus Elise) were separated by just 0.01pts!
