More New Car Progress

Despite having a few early season engine agros with the works Force Empire DS that he shares with Toby Moody, Empire boss Bill Chaplin is still working very hard to complete the two brand new 1100cc Racing Car Class contenders he has underway.

Whilst we were away at the BHC events at Barbon Manor and Harewood over the weekend we received an update on the progress of these exciting little cars, which should be the most aerodynamically advanced small capacity cars in the field.

Clive Austin, who will share chassis number 1 with Chris Aspinall, has sent us the following news:

“Tub and nose now painted by an F1 paint specialist who paints Lotus and Force India F1 cars – fantastic place – they weigh each part in and out. The amazing thing is that the tub and nose lost weight through the process – the prep took of more than the paint added!

Front suspension and steering pretty much complete.

Engine cover moulds now done, special front wing mould in production.

Work under way on the rear suspension and engine fitment.”

The rate of progress on this project is quite remarkable. It will be fantastic to see the first car on track, and from the sound of things that could be at an event near you very soon indeed!

Thanks so much for the update Clive.

Update 2

The tub has now been painted and is being assembled
