Paul Haimes Makes Hillclimb Return

After months of speculation & rumour, some correct and some certainly not, we can now reveal here on speedhillclimb.com that Paul Haimes will return to hillclimbing in 2011.

Paul Haimes, Dallara F301, July 2010

Former Dallara driver and twice former Hillclimb Leaders Champion Haimes has been out of the sport since selling his Dallara to Darren Warwick but will be appearing this weekend at Shelsley Walsh for a co-drive in the Ward family’s Mallock-BDG Mk18.

This arrangement will be a trip down memory lane for Haimes as the very Mallock chassis owned by the Wards is the one in which he really made his name in British Hillclimbing. Having driven his Dad’s Morgan +8 for a couple of seasons to serve his ‘apprenticeship’ in the sport, he jumped into the deep end with the ex. Neil Crump MK18/20 complete with Cosworth BDA engine.

Paul painstakingly developed the car over the following 5 or 6 years to the point
where he claimed the Leaders title, by which time the car had a Millington-built, injected BDG engine.

Have fun with it this weekend Paul, and we hope to see you back on the hills regularly soon !
