Priaulx Ends Le Mans Stint

1995 British Hillclimb Champion and current BMW factory driver Andy Priaulx completed his stint in the Le Mans based ILMC series with a 2nd place finish in the 6 hour race at Zhuhai, China last weekend.

Priaulx has driven in ILMC in 2011

Sharing his BMW M3 GT2 with Uwe Alzen, Priaulx recovered from a fairly conservative 4th place grid slot to follow home team mates Augusto Farfus and Jorg Muller after a ding-dong battle with the AF Corsa Ferrari F458 of Giancarlo Fisichella and Gianmaria Bruni (which eventually succumed to hub & braking troubles).

This result left the Snitzer run BMW Motorsport team in 2nd place, behind the works blessed AF Corsa squad, in the ILMC GTE Manufacturers and Teams championship.

As well as bringing the curtain down on another fantastic season of ACO-rules racing, this race saw the final ILMC round as for 2012 the series will morph into an FIA supported World Endurance Championship.

Unfortunately it doesn’t look as though Andy and the BMW crews will be able to go one-stop better next year as the smart money is on them appearing for BMW in the German DTM series for 2012.
