Raptor Ready to Return Again

We are delighted to reveal that one of the real crowd-pleasers in British Hillclimbing will be returning to the hills this weekend at Harewood Hillclimb.

Jos Goodyear GWR Raptor

Jos, Barry & Graeme have the Raptor ready to rumble all over again!

As one of the 2012 BHC pace-makers, and having suffered from electrical problems for the first couple of events, a lot of expectation surrounded the return to competition of the GWR Raptor and Jos Goodyear in early June. Unfortunately the car and driver hit the headlines for all of the wrong reasons at Shelsely Walsh as Jos suffered a massive accident between Kennel and Crossing bends on his first practice run of the weekend.

Unfortunately the lovely little lightweight vehicle was badly damaged.

Despite much chatter and rumour throughout the paddocks and spectator banks suggesting that we may not see the car in action again, the opposite is actually true.

Car constructor Graeme Wight Jnr has been working day and night for the past few weeks and, pending a rapid re-assembly which is happening as I type, has the car completed and ready to run at Harewood.

We spoke to Graeme earlier this week and he said: “There was a tremendous amount to do with damage to virtually all of the car. It was a 90mph accident and the car has stood up to it very well indeed, Jos walked away and didn’t even scratch his crash helmet despite having inverted the car. I will just be happy when the build is complete so that I can go to bed on the same day I got up… It’s been a while since I’ve done that!”.

It is fanastic to hear that this phenominal little car will be back out again so soon. Very well done to all involved in the rebuild.
