Raptor Ready to Return?

The beautifully built GWR Raptor has been one of the biggest stars of the past couple of British Hillclimb Championship seasons.

Jos Goodyear GWR Raptor

Our Correspondent’s shot of the Goodyear Raptor in the paddock at Loton in April

In the hands of Lee Adams initially and later Jos Goodyear the car has revolutionised what is expected from a 1600cc Racing Car and has decimated class and even hill records all over the country at National level.

So far this year however, the car has flattered to deceive. What appear to be electrical gremlins have affected the car’s outings in Jos’ hands this year and the wee beasty hasn’t appeared on the hills since the Midland Hillclimb Championship round at Shelsley Walsh back on the May Day Bank Holiday weekend.

It would appear as though the faults have been traced and corrected however. Our Correspondent, who always has his ear to the ground on Midland’s speed event comings & goings, spotted that the car was in action at the Shenstone & District Light Car Club event at Curborough Sprint Course on Sunday.

Jos set a comfortable FTD at the event with a very respectable sub-50 second run.

Fingers-crossed that this means that the team have got to the bottom of the problems, and that we will see this impressive car & driver combination back in action on the hills at Shelsley this coming weekend.
