Rob Returns

It was great to see Rob Turnbull back in action on the hills again last weekend at Shelsley Walsh.

Rob Turnbull Gould GR55

700bhp Gould was back in action at Shelsley

The hillclimb veteran who first finished in the Top 10 in the British Championship way back in the mid-1970s hasn’t competed so far this year as his Gould-Cosworth is currently for sale.

Having attended the Channel Islands rounds as a spectator though, Rob decided to bring the Cosworth powered beast out for a run at Shelsley.

Turnbull was initially taken aback by the pace of the car, “you forget just how fast these things are!” he said after practice on Saturday. He was soon in the groove however and got down to a competitive 25.54s run on Sunday afternoon, which left him just outside of qualifying pace for the 2nd Run Off.

After that final run on Sunday afternoon we heard the words we had expected all weekend: “I ‘ate this place”!!
