Roger’s Distraction

The wise old owl of the British Hillclimb Championship these days is undoubtedly 1997 British Champion Roger Moran, who is in his 21st consecutive season of top-class BHC competition.

Having joined the ‘big class’ as double Leaders Champion (1994 & 1995) in 1996 with a Pilbeam MP72 shared with Scotsman George Richie, Roger became Champ the following year after an epic battle with Gould GR37 mounted David Grace. Since 1996 Roger has never been out of the top 4 overall in the title race.

In recent weeks though Roger has been a little inconsistent and hasn’t felt overly satisfied with some of his performances since his cracking Run Off win at Harewood back in early May.

Roger feels that he isn’t concentrating enough on the job in hand and is trying to improve that aspect of his competing.

However, after a snoop around in the Moran’s trailer, we think we may have found what is distracting Roger…
