Film Night 15

Welcome to part two of our Film Night special weekend.

This time we are going to look at the history of the Indianapolis 500 (we may as well because most of us in the UK can’t watch it Live!).

Since it was first run in 1911, just a few short years after the first cars climbed The World Famous Shelsley Walsh, the Indy 500 has become one of the highlights of the World motorsport calendar.

A whole industry has built up around the circuit in Indiana just to support the race and the series of events that make up the Indycar Championship, and it has truely earned it’s place in the Triple Crown of ‘must-win’ events in motorsport.

This year there are a smattering of Brits throughout the 33 car field including multiple race winner Dario Franchitti, James Jakes, Justin Wilson, Pippa Mann and Katherine Legge.

Let’s have a look back at some of the immense history of this unique event.
