Film Night 23

We are having a special Film Night this week. As Mr Editor has been in Barcelona this week, attending the Rally de Espana WRC event with the M Sport team, we thought that we would have a look at a modern rallying film on the tube.

For the past couple of years, the Word Rally Championship has been dominated by the Volkswagen Motorsport team with Sebastien Ogier, Jari-Matti Latvala and Andreas Mikkelsen. We stumbled across this documentary which focuses on the birth of the team which debuted at the start of the 2013 WRC season.

This fly-on-the-wal look at the launch of the VW Polo WRC, a car that has become all-conquering in the ‘post-Loeb’ era of the WRC.

There isn’t much commentary in this film, but there is some great footage of a stunning car, as well as shots of VW’s history in rallying with the giant-killing VW Golf GTis of the late 1980s inparticular.

So open a bottle, sit back, and enjoy some modern motorsport history.
