Shelsley Starts Here

As well as Werrington Park in the South West, there is some major hillclimbing action in the Midlands this weekend as well, with Shelsley Walsh holding its first event of the 2013 season.

Shelsley Walsh

The Shelsley paddock will be a hive of activity this weekend

The World Famous venue, located in the heart of the Teme Valley in Worcestershire, will be echoing to the sound of racing engines on Saturday and Sunday as the Midland Hillclimb Championship pays a visit to the oldest continuously used motorsport venue.

In 2012 Shelsley Walsh was our Venue of the Year in the speedhillclimb.com awards, but the Midland Automobile Club haven’t rested on their laurels. There have been a whole host of improvements to the venue over the winter, including resurfacing and improved drainage in The Esses and a reinforced trackside bank on the inside and exit of Crossing Bend.

As always at Shelsley there is a very strong entry of competing cars, including a large number of classic & historic cars.

At the head of the field several top British Championship contenders are using the even to get development mileage on their 2013 packages, including reigning Champ Trevor Willis, Will Hall, Deryk Young and 2012 1600cc sensation Jos Goodyear in the giant-killing GWR Raptor.

Cars will be on the hill from 9.15am each day.
