Sheridan Thynne 1939-2011

We were very sad this morning when we received the news that Sheridan Thynne had passed away over the weekend.

Sheridan Thynne keeps an eye on son Piers at Shelsley Walsh

Having been involved in motorsport at the very highest level, working with Williams and then with Nigel Mansell, Sheridan took on a retirement role which suited him perfectly¬†- he became team manager of son Piers’ hillclimbing exploits!

Sheridan, along with wife Eve, loved Piers competing and attended nearly every meeting, wielding a battery-trolly with the best of them and enthralling anyone who was interested with stories from the glory days of Formula 1.

As well as the gophering for Piers, Sheridan also served on the HSA Committee as Competition Secretary for a few years, and also assisted 2003 & 2004 British Hillclimb Champion Adam Fleetwood in his ultimately fruitless attempt to change over to circuit racing.

The hillclimb paddock will be a considerably less interesting place to be in 2012 as a result of his early departure.

Our thoughts are with Eve, Piers and all of the Thynne family at this time.
