Records Tumble at Prescott

Last weekend saw a stunning event at Prescott with lots of action on the track, a host of records reset and unfortunately quite a lot of carbon crunched.

Prescott was in a fine condition for it’s final Championship event of 2014.


Two very competitive British Hillclimb Championship Top 12 Run Offs saw the hill record blitzed each time and two different winners in two very different racing cars.

Prescott – 2014 Events

Next up sees us look at another of the busier hills in the country, the stunning Prescott Hillclimb in Gloucestershire.

In recent years Prescott Hillclimb has led the way for hills to gain additional revenue by hosting corporate events, and the increase in income to the venue has benefitted spectators and competitors alike with some of the best facilities of any hillclimb.

Junior… Reports of Raptor Return

Whilst scanning about on the net and catching up with the goss on the awesome uphillracers forum this week we spotted a very interesting post from a former British Hillclimb Champion about how he would like to get back out on the hills again.

Graeme has a demo run in a Gould V6 (now owned by Tony Wilt) at TWF Shelsley Walsh in 2007.


A phone call and a chat later and we can confirm that 2001 & 2002 BHC winner and owner of GW Racing, the manufacturers of the awesome little GWR Raptor, Graeme Wight Jnr is indeed going to be seen in a racesuit and skid lid again. But like so much goss and rumour at this time of year, all is not as it seems!

Perfect Prescott

Prescott Hillclimb in Gloucestershire was the host for the final headline hillclimb event on the mainland for 2013 with a pair of one day events on 5th & 6th of October.

The competitive events ran alongside the Prescott American Autumn Classic event at the Cotswolds hill, and the contrasting sight of racing cars and fairground rides in the paddock was a bit of a shock to the system at first, but made for a fantastic family day out.

Events This Weekend

With the British Hillclimb Championship now over, the 2013 Hillclimb season is winding down for winter.

There are still a few club events going on, the following meetings are on this weekend:


Prescott Hillclimb – Autumn Classic Weekend (Saturday/Sunday)

Petit Bot Hillclimb – Guernsey Kart & Motor Club (Saturday)


Both of these events will provide a great mix of cars and some very hot competition, so if you are in the area then why not pop along and have a look?

Sue Smashes Recent Record

Having set a cracking new Ladies Hill Record at Prescott Hillclimb’s Midland Hillclimb Championship round back in June, the fastest lady in British Hillclimbing was at it again at the British Championship round last weekend.

The Herefordshire driver, who runs the Gould-Judd GR51B which won consecutive BHC titles in the early noughties with Graeme Wight Jnr at the wheel, carved a further second or so from her two month old target during qualifying for the opening Top 12 Run Off.
