Thomas on Top in Teme Valley!

Last weekend saw the final events of the season at Shelsley Walsh as The World Famous venue hosted a pair of single-day club events.

A healthy entry on each day was the result of several Championships running at the venue, as well as many club drivers taking the opportunity to compete on the hallowed slopes of the oldest mainland hillclimb venue.

Double Dry Doune!?

The penultimate round of the British Hillclimb Championship season took place at Doune in Scotland at the weekend and, after the record-breaking bonanza at the hill in June, miraculously this latest event was warm and sunny yet again!

As well as seeing a number of class records set over the weekend, we also crowned our 2014 British Champion. Having dominated with his usual brand of metronomic consistency and blistering pace, Ludlow driver Scott Moran claimed his fifth title, joining Martyn Griffiths and David Grace as a five times winner and just one win away from the record set by the late, great Tony Marsh.

JC Returns!

In recent weeks the Midland hillclimb scene has seen the return of one of the most competitive drivers, and one of the most committed hillclimb families, as a very heavily re-developed car has made its first appearance for a few seasons.

Warwickshire 2-litre runner John Chalmers has spent the past couple of years installing a very special new engine into his familiar Ralt F302 chassis, the car with which he took the Shelsley Walsh 2-litre class record in 2011, and after a difficult development period has made a return to the hills.

Event Round-up…. Craigantlet

The second and final offshore event of the championship season, at Craigantlet Hill on the outskirts of Belfast, Northern Island saw a very small entry of National runners line-up for the public road course in what can only be described as Biblical conditions…

Menzies Machine Mended

One of the best aspects of the recent British Hillclimb Championship round at Harewood Hillclimb in Yorkshire was the return to competition of one of the top contenders in our sport.

The Red Rocket returned to competition at Harewood Hillclimb a couple of weeks ago.

 

Scottish charger Wallace Menzies, who was third overall in the Championship in 2013, has been absent from the hills since his hugely publicised tumble at Shelsley Walsh back in early June.

Spectacular Shelsley

The British Hillclimb Championship circus assembled in rural Worcester at the weekend for one of the blue riband events on the calendar at Shelsley Walsh hillclimb.

Tommy New was a popular winner of the 2nd Run Off.

 

As always these days, The World Famous venue was in fantastic condition, and the usual large crowd witnessed a day of fantastic competition as well as a few unscheduled incidents and accidents.
