Scott Gets Soaked!

The last British Hillclimb Championship event of each season always has a distinct ‘end of term’ feel to it as the drivers, marshals, go-fors and organisers all begin to unwind before the long cold winter.

A new tradition amongst the top title contenders is the annual soaking of the incoming champion at the Loton Park post-event prize-giving by his competitors.

Run Off Milestone for Gould

Our Correspondent has sussed out that, by claiming victory in the final British Hillclimb Championship Top 12 Run Off at The World Famous Shelsley Walsh on Sunday, Scott Moran claimed the 400th Run Off victory for the Gould marque.

The Newbury-based constructor, which first appeared in British Hillclimbing with a stunning aluminium honeycomb chassis and Cosworth BDA power back in 1984, scored several Run Off wins with the 84G chassis in the late 80s and early 90s but they really started to rack up the victories in the late 1990s with the Ralt F3 based GR37 chassis.

The Epynt Military Ranges are hallowed ground for the rallying world, especially those who specialize in tarmac competition. The stages are fast, incredibly challenging and always attract a cracking entry of high-quality cars and drivers.

The eagle-eyed amongst you who were loitering around in the paddock early on Saturday morning at the recent Gurston Down BHC event will have spotted Mr Editor wielding an usual looking camera!

In order to check out some of the temperatures being generated by Paul Haimes’ turbo-charged Gould GR59 we borrowed a thermal imaging camera from a mate.

Opening Loton Event

After the cancellation of the Loton Park Practice weekend due to bad weather a few weeks ago, track action finally returns to the Shropshire venue after the winter this weekend.

Two single-day events for the Midland Speed and Association of North West Car Clubs Championships make up the program at Sir Michael Leighton’s deer park venue.
