Double Dry Doune!?

The penultimate round of the British Hillclimb Championship season took place at Doune in Scotland at the weekend and, after the record-breaking bonanza at the hill in June, miraculously this latest event was warm and sunny yet again!

As well as seeing a number of class records set over the weekend, we also crowned our 2014 British Champion. Having dominated with his usual brand of metronomic consistency and blistering pace, Ludlow driver Scott Moran claimed his fifth title, joining Martyn Griffiths and David Grace as a five times winner and just one win away from the record set by the late, great Tony Marsh.

The Season Starts Here

The 2013 British Hillclimb Championship kicked was in fine form when it kicked off at the historic Prescott Hillclimb in Gloucestershire over the weekend. Lots of new tweeks and combinations were on display and the results saw some very close battles both in the classes and in the all-important, points-scoring Top 12 Run Offs.

Former triple Championship Scott Moran started the year in determined style by claiming both Run Off victories and setting Fastest Time of the Day in the family Gould-NME GR61X, but reigning Champion Trevor Willis took a pair of solid Run Off results to demonstrate that his brand new OMS 28 will be on the pace when it is fully up to speed.

Win for Wynn!

Loton Park hillclimb, on the Welsh Borders in Shropshire hosted its first event of the 2013 season at the weekend, with two single-day club events.

Trevor’s Topsy-Turvy Triumph

A quite remarkable pair of British Championship scoring Top 12 Run Offs at Prescott Hillclimb saw Trevor Willis on top form to take one step closer to a possible first British Championship title.

After approaching the mark in final practice on Saturday afternoon, Willis took the outright hill record in the first Run Off to outscore reigning champion Scott Moran, before producing an amazing qualifying effort and a second place finish second time up to reclaim the championship lead with just four rounds of the season to go.

Soaking Shelsley – The Classes

Whilst the big boys were attempting to qualify for the Top 12 Shootouts at The World Famous Shelsley Walsh, the class runners were chasing hard for Leaders and Midland championship points. Wet conditions can often throw up some surprise results and this weekend was no exception.
