Blasts from the Past in Ulster

Whilst at the British Hillclimb Championship round at Craigantlet, near Belfast, in Northern Ireland last weekend, we spotted some fascinating kit amongst the local entry.

Spedding Sets The Pace

The opening competitive event of 2013 in the North of England was put on by BARC (Yorkshire Centre) at their traditional home, Harewood Hillclimb near Harrogate.

Despite a few early season withdrawals due to cars not quite being ready, including the OMS of Steve & Lynne Owen (see separate story), a healthy entry took to the hill for this round of the Harewood Hillclimb Championship.

Another New Empire

We have heard word that the busiest bunny of all over the Christmas period was Empire Racing Cars boss Bill Chaplin.

Despite flood water getting ever closer to the workshop doors of his Somerset facility, Bill found time to continue progress on the production of his new for 2013 Empire and also to sell another of the 1100cc carbon-tubbed chassis.

The National level 1100cc Racing Car Class should receive a welcome increase in entries for the 2013 season.

Return to the Hills – Part 2

Hot on the heels of Welsh Wizard Eynon Price, the entry list for the Prescott BHC round this weekend reveals that another former 1600 class pacemaker is returning to the hills.

Bike-Engines Clean Up

The pair of clubby events at Loton Park at the weekend produced some results which were somewhat against the formbook.

Most observers would have expected the V6 engined Pilbeam MP88s of Mike Tregoning and George Bleasdale or the TKD V8 OMS of Tim Elmer to lead the way, however things didn’t go according to plan for the big-hitters…
