Double Dry Doune!?

The penultimate round of the British Hillclimb Championship season took place at Doune in Scotland at the weekend and, after the record-breaking bonanza at the hill in June, miraculously this latest event was warm and sunny yet again!

Different colour, same result for Team Moran.

As well as seeing a number of class records set over the weekend, we also crowned our 2014 British Champion. Having dominated with his usual brand of metronomic consistency and blistering pace, Ludlow driver Scott Moran claimed his fifth title, joining Martyn Griffiths and David Grace as a five times winner and just one win away from the record set by the late, great Tony Marsh.

Records Destroyed at Doune!

After a hectic schedule of consecutive events at Gurston, Shelsley and Loton, a welcome weekend off for the British Hillclimb Championship runners preceded the first visit to Scotland of 2014 to the ever popular Doune Hillclimb, on the edge of The Trossachs, in Stirling.

Doune Hillclimb

Junior… Reports of Raptor Return

Whilst scanning about on the net and catching up with the goss on the awesome uphillracers forum this week we spotted a very interesting post from a former British Hillclimb Champion about how he would like to get back out on the hills again.

Graeme Wight Jnr Gould GR55

Graeme has a demo run in a Gould V6 (now owned by Tony Wilt) at TWF Shelsley Walsh in 2007.

A phone call and a chat later and we can confirm that 2001 & 2002 BHC winner and owner of GW Racing, the manufacturers of the awesome little GWR Raptor, Graeme Wight Jnr is indeed going to be seen in a racesuit and skid lid again. But like so much goss and rumour at this time of year, all is not as it seems!

Helpers Get Uren Into Run Off

There was a fairly impressive turn-around at Doune Hillclimb’s British Hillclimb Championship round the weekend before last as a team of helpers made an impressive repair job.

Summers Stuns at Damp Doune

Doune Hillclimb in Scotland is a very difficult challenge for drivers and cars alike with narrow, high speed shutes and some very tricky braking areas.

Whilst they may lack the ultimate grunt and downforce of the big bangers, often smaller and more nimble cars excel on this high-speed test of nerve and commitment.
