The penultimate round of the British Hillclimb Championship season took place at Doune in Scotland at the weekend and, after the record-breaking bonanza at the hill in June, miraculously this latest event was warm and sunny yet again!

As well as seeing a number of class records set over the weekend, we also crowned our 2014 British Champion. Having dominated with his usual brand of metronomic consistency and blistering pace, Ludlow driver Scott Moran claimed his fifth title, joining Martyn Griffiths and David Grace as a five times winner and just one win away from the record set by the late, great Tony Marsh.

Summers Sets Prescott Alight!

The British Hillclimb Championship sprang into life for the 2014 season at Prescott Hillclimb, near Cheltenham in Gloucestershire, last weekend with a cracking weekend of competition at the home of the Bugatti Owners Club.

Starting where he had left off at the end of 2013, last season’s star of the show Alex Summers claimed both British Hillclimb Championship Top 12 Run Off wins in his supercharged DJ Firehawk single-seater.

BHC is Back!

After over six months of withdrawl symptoms, this weekend at Prescott Hillclimb the top competitors hit the slopes of the Gloucestershire venue as the opening rounds of the British Hillclimb Championship take place.

Rob Stevens will be back to defend his Midland Hillclimb Championship at Prescott.


This season, there should be a real battle-royal at the top of the timing sheets as the big-hitters will be joined by a couple of little cars which are now capable of outright wins at all venues.

Scott Moran set a pace in the early part of the Championship which nobody else could match and it always seemed likely that he would claim his fourth title, although 2012 Champ Trevor Willis had other ideas and pushed Scott hard through till the end of the year.

History Made at Harewood

British Hillclimb history was made over the weekend at Harewood Hillclimb as Scott Moran became the sole holder of the record number of BHC Top 12 Run Off victories.

As we have reported over the past few weeks, Scott has been edging closer to beating Martin Groves’ record of 104 wins. He reached the magic 100 mark at Gurston in late May, before equalling Martin’s record at Loton Park in mid June. Scott missed out at Doune as defending champion Trevor Willis claimed both wins, but he was straight back to winning ways in the opening Run Off at Harewood and now has the record to himself.
