Hollier’s Home Run

Up until the late-1990s, the Five Clubs partnership’s traditional hillclimb weekend at Wiscombe Park in Devon was a British Hillclimb Championship round. These days the event is a double-header round of the ASWMC Hillclimb Championship, but is always a very popular weekend in the South West.

Despite other big hillcimb events across the South of England, the BHC at Prescott and then final round of Gurston Down’s season, the Five Clubs attracted a very good entry to the parkland hill.

Purcell and Cannell Feel the Pressure

Whilst British and Midland Hillclimb contenders are at Prescott Hillclimb and South West Hillclimb contenders are at Wiscombe Park, the loyal band of Gurston Down Hillclimb regulars will be out for the final time this year at the Wilstshire venue.

Season Catch-up Part 3

The third part of our Season Catch-up see us turn our attention to one of the most popular hills in the country, Gurston Down hillclimb, near Salisbury in Wiltshire.

As the hill was celebrating it’s 300th event over the end of April weekend, The Chairmans Invitation Class was in the program again, and as in 2011 it featured a very famous name from professional motorsport.

Hollier’s Flying High!

The B ARC SW Region hosted a full weekend of hillclimbing at Gurston Down last weekend which included rounds of the ASWMC and ACSMC Championships as well as the venue’s own very popular Championship and Challenge.

Force Floors

Behind fastest man Terry Graves in his Gould, the next quickest at the Gurston Test Day last weekend was the Force-Hayabusa duo Peter D. Smith and Richard Gaylard.

Despite snowfall causing the cancellation of test days at Harewood and Loton Park, there were no such fears for the Westcountry hill and over 60 competitors turned up to blow away the cobwebs from the winter break.
