Hollier’s Home Run

Up until the late-1990s, the Five Clubs partnership’s traditional hillclimb weekend at Wiscombe Park in Devon was a British Hillclimb Championship round. These days the event is a double-header round of the ASWMC Hillclimb Championship, but is always a very popular weekend in the South West.

Despite other big hillcimb events across the South of England, the BHC at Prescott and then final round of Gurston Down’s season, the Five Clubs attracted a very good entry to the parkland hill.

Stevens’ Stunner!

One of the oldest National Hillclimb records in the book was erased last weekend at Prescott’s Midland Hillclimb Championship round.

Driving the supercharged mega-horsepowered ‘purple-peril’ Force SR4, Rob Stevens has been going faster and faster in recent seasons. Having stepped up to the Unlimited Capacity Sports Libre class for 2013, one of the tasks he has faced has been to re-write Martin Bolsover’s quite incredible Prescott class record from 1984.

2012 SHC Awards – Class of the Year

To celebrate the end of speedhillclimb.com’s second full year of existence, we have decided to review the year and recognise some of the stunning performances we have seen on the hills over the 2012 season.

The prizes are purely for bragging rights in the 2013 paddock, but nevertheless over the last few days of the year we will be announcing the winners of the 2013 speedhillclimb.com Awards!The 2nd of our awards will be presented for the ‘Class of the Year’:

Wiscombe Class Round-up

The records were by no means confined to the Top 12 Run Offs at Woolbridge MC’s Wiscombe Park British Championship round at the weekend. With Leaders Hillclimb Championship points up for grabs the title chasers were trying hard.

Plenty of local drivers came out to play as well, both in the Championship classes and the ‘buffer classes’ at the end of the program, and many of them pushed the National boys to the limit.

Cracking June Gurston

The events at Gurston Down at the weekend featured lots of cars, lots of variety and lots of hot competition. Both of the cluby one-dayers were over-subscribed and many regulars only got an entry to one or other day.

Soaking Shelsley – The Classes

Whilst the big boys were attempting to qualify for the Top 12 Shootouts at The World Famous Shelsley Walsh, the class runners were chasing hard for Leaders and Midland championship points. Wet conditions can often throw up some surprise results and this weekend was no exception.
