The MAC Speed Events School, organised by the Midland Automobile Club, is running two School Days this year at the world-renowned Shelsley Walsh Hillclimb in beautiful rural Worcestershire, on June 25th and August 27th.

Spedding Sets The Pace

The opening competitive event of 2013 in the North of England was put on by BARC (Yorkshire Centre) at their traditional home, Harewood Hillclimb near Harrogate.

Despite a few early season withdrawals due to cars not quite being ready, including the OMS of Steve & Lynne Owen (see separate story), a healthy entry took to the hill for this round of the Harewood Hillclimb Championship.

Hill Climb veteran competitor Deryk Young has been a fixture around the venues for 30-odd years. He has driven a wide variety of cars from the ex-everybody (Dayson/Durling etc etc) Turner sportscar, through his Vision-Polimotor Clubmans car and the ‘Del-lara’-Judd. For the last eight years he has campaigned the ex-Graeme Wight Gould GR51 fitted with the Judd V8 engine he has used since the mid-90′s.

Trevor’s Topsy-Turvy Triumph

A quite remarkable pair of British Championship scoring Top 12 Run Offs at Prescott Hillclimb saw Trevor Willis on top form to take one step closer to a possible first British Championship title.

After approaching the mark in final practice on Saturday afternoon, Willis took the outright hill record in the first Run Off to outscore reigning champion Scott Moran, before producing an amazing qualifying effort and a second place finish second time up to reclaim the championship lead with just four rounds of the season to go.

Great Gurston

Good weather, great event organisation and some incredibly committed driving produced two highly entertaining Top 12 Run Offs at Gurston Down on Sunday.

The British Championship title race is at a pivotal point at the moment as Scott Moran hunts down the current points leader Trevor Willis, and Wallace Menzies is using the new chassis & monoshock suspension of his DJ Firestorm to great effect and could well join the party as well.

Gurston Gossip

Practice for the British Championship round taking place at Gurston Down tomorrow started off damp, dried out and then became a complete wash-out!

OMS 25 driver Trevor Willis was fastest in the dry, but he was only 4/100ths ahead of Scott Moran, who in turn was only 8/100ths ahead of Wallace Menzies.
