Event Round-up…. Craigantlet

The second and final offshore event of the championship season, at Craigantlet Hill on the outskirts of Belfast, Northern Island saw a very small entry of National runners line-up for the public road course in what can only be described as Biblical conditions…

Event Round-up…. Wiscombe

From the Channel Islands the championship continued in the South West of the British Isles with the annual visit to the twisting, tree-lined, parkland hill of Wiscombe Park in Devon.

Hall’s weekend was nearly over before it began… Fortunately gearbox issues in P1 were easily sorted.

 

As in previous years, the Moran team chose not to compete at Wiscombe, so it was a golden opportunity for the other championship contenders to play catch-up and put pressure on Scott and Roger ahead of the series run in.

Event Round-up…. Channel Islands

From Harewood the championship circus went on its holidays with the annual trip to Channel Islands, for Bouley Bay (Jersey) on Thursday and Le Val des Terres (Guernsey) on Saturday.

These relatively low speed, public road events were expected to favour the diminutive little GWR Raptor of Jos Goodyear, but his success on the weekend didn’t come quite as quickly as expected.

Who Needs Goodwood!?

With Glastonbury Festival and the Goodwood Festival of Speed happening elsewhere in the South of England, the picturesque Prescott Hillclimb in Gloucestershire held its Mid-Summer Speed Fest over the weekend.

The Gloucestershire venue was in fine fettle.

 

The event featured a stand-alone round of the hugely popular Midland Hillclimb Championship, alongside the HSA, National Speed and Paul Matty Classic Sports Championships. The event also hosted the second round of the famous Prescott Gold Cup.

Records Destroyed at Doune!

After a hectic schedule of consecutive events at Gurston, Shelsley and Loton, a welcome weekend off for the British Hillclimb Championship runners preceded the first visit to Scotland of 2014 to the ever popular Doune Hillclimb, on the edge of The Trossachs, in Stirling.

Usually any event at ‘The King of Hills’ is complimented by a healthy dose of Scottish rain, but on this occasion the competitors who made the long journey North were greeted by glorious hot, sunny weather and the result was a rout on the record books as drivers took advantage of a hill in fantastic condition.
