The weeks speedhillclimb.com Film Night looks across the Atlantic Ocean to the ‘good old boys’ of the North American Stock Car Auto Racing series, usually known as NASCAR.

NASCAR runs a very complicated Run Off system to decide who wins the top-line Sprint Cup championship. Last weekend the Federated Auto Parts 400 race at Richmond, Virginia saw the qualifying proceedure completed and the 16 drivers who enter ‘the Chase for Cup’ decided. Therefore this week ‘The Chase’ begins, and it begins at the 1.5 mile D-Shaped oval of Chicagoland Speedway, near Jolliet (any Blues Brothers fans out there!?) in Illinois.

Lee puts the Manors on!

As we were passing the door while travelling along the A35 yesterday, we popped into Manor Farm Hillclimb in Charmouth, Dorset to have our first look at one of the newest hillclimb venues on the UK mainland.

The tunnel under the A35 is a unique feature of Manor Farm.

 

Woolbridge Motor Club, who also organise events at the nearby Wiscombe Park, run the venue at Manor Farm although other Westcountry clubs also use the facility during the year. The enthusiasm and backing that has been given to this venue saw it get awarded ‘Venue of the Year’ in the speedhillclimb.com Awards.

Eddie Expects Epic Empire!

We are pleased to reveal, after a couple of months of negotiation and planning, that two of the Westcountry’s most successful hillclimb exponents are joining forces for an attack on theĀ 1600cc Racing Car class in 2014.

The Cold War

The latest go-faster tweak in the British Hillclimb paddock seems to be a direct result of the sheer quantity of forced-induction cars being used on the hills these days, and the horsepower battle that exists between them.
