Party in the Park!

The final event of the 2014 British Hillclimb Championship season took place at Loton Park in Shropshire at the weekend and provided everything that is good about our wonderful sport.

A healthy crowd enjoyed a great day at Loton Park.

 

A popular double winner, a fond farewell, a recently crowned champion, some hot competition, cracking commentary, relatively little damage and a very large & enthusiastic crowd combined to provide a real festival atmosphere both in the paddock and in the spectator areas.

Thomas on Top in Teme Valley!

Last weekend saw the final events of the season at Shelsley Walsh as The World Famous venue hosted a pair of single-day club events.

A healthy entry on each day was the result of several Championships running at the venue, as well as many club drivers taking the opportunity to compete on the hallowed slopes of the oldest mainland hillclimb venue.

Double Dry Doune!?

The penultimate round of the British Hillclimb Championship season took place at Doune in Scotland at the weekend and, after the record-breaking bonanza at the hill in June, miraculously this latest event was warm and sunny yet again!

As well as seeing a number of class records set over the weekend, we also crowned our 2014 British Champion. Having dominated with his usual brand of metronomic consistency and blistering pace, Ludlow driver Scott Moran claimed his fifth title, joining Martyn Griffiths and David Grace as a five times winner and just one win away from the record set by the late, great Tony Marsh.

Hollier Debuts Empire

The recent British Hillclimb Championship round at Gurston Down over the August Bank Holiday saw the debut of a new single-seater in the 1600cc Racing Car Class.

The new car rolled out of Empire’s Somerset workshop just a couple of weeks ago.

 

Following the domination of the class by the scintillating GWR Raptor in recent years new cars for the 1600cc class have been somewhat thin on the ground, but maybe that is about to change…

Who Needs Goodwood!?

With Glastonbury Festival and the Goodwood Festival of Speed happening elsewhere in the South of England, the picturesque Prescott Hillclimb in Gloucestershire held its Mid-Summer Speed Fest over the weekend.

The Gloucestershire venue was in fine fettle.

 

The event featured a stand-alone round of the hugely popular Midland Hillclimb Championship, alongside the HSA, National Speed and Paul Matty Classic Sports Championships. The event also hosted the second round of the famous Prescott Gold Cup.
