Records Destroyed at Doune!

After a hectic schedule of consecutive events at Gurston, Shelsley and Loton, a welcome weekend off for the British Hillclimb Championship runners preceded the first visit to Scotland of 2014 to the ever popular Doune Hillclimb, on the edge of The Trossachs, in Stirling.

Usually any event at ‘The King of Hills’ is complimented by a healthy dose of Scottish rain, but on this occasion the competitors who made the long journey North were greeted by glorious hot, sunny weather and the result was a rout on the record books as drivers took advantage of a hill in fantastic condition.

Where’s Haimesy Been!?

Having been a noticeable absentee from hillclimb paddocks so far during 2014, former Run Off winner and double Leaders Champion Paul Haimes made a brief but welcome return to the British Hillclimb scene at Loton Park last weekend.

The Farnham-based driver had a promising year in 2013 as he developed the first turbo-charged Gould single-seater chassis into a competitive proposition. Good progress was made, but there was still a big job list for the winter.

Wee Beasty Heads for Home!

There was lots of paddock chatter over the past couple of weekends at the British & Midland Championship weekends at Shelsley Walsh and Loton Park about the forthcoming sale of one of the fastest 1600c Racing Cars around.

BHC Season Review Part 12 – Scott Moran

Our twelve part series looking at the top contenders in the British Hillclimb Championship comes to an end today as we move to have a look at the experiences of the man who became a four-time Champion in 2013.

Scott Moran set a pace in the early part of the Championship which nobody else could match and it always seemed likely that he would claim his fourth title, although 2012 Champ Trevor Willis had other ideas and pushed Scott hard through till the end of the year.

BHC Season Review Part 11 – Trevor Willis

As we approach the end of our 2013 British Hillclimb Championship Season Review we move on to look at the real heavy-hitters in the series, and the two drivers who have dominated top-line hillclimbing since 2010.

Trevor proudly wore the ‘Number 1′ on his OMS-RPE 28  for 2013.

 

Runner-up in this years Championship was the man who really hit some mighty highs in 2012. He had a new car to shake down at Prescott back in April, but as always Trevor Willis was up to speed incredibly rapidly and was soon fully in the groove with his Powertec/RPE V8 powered OMS.
