Guernseyman Andy Priaulx had a mixed weekend at the annual Race Of Champions event, held in Dusseldorf, Germany this year.

This event features a huge array of the very best drivers in World motorsport and Priaulx qualifies due to his multiple World Touring Car Championship victories.

The Race Of Champions is a two-day event with a Nations Cup on the Saturday (for teams of drivers) and the ROC on Sunday where individuals compete to see who is Champion of Champions. The event is run on a twist indoor track with drivers using an array of cars including Audi R8s, Skodia S2000 cars, VW Sciroccos and purpose built buggies.

Paired with Jenson Button (Team Guernsey!?) in Team Great Britain for the Nations Cup, Priaulx beat former winner Filipe Alburquerque and F1 champ Sebastian Vettel before being knocked out by Team Germany in the Semi-Final.

For the ROC individual event the 1995 BHC winner beat David Coulthard, Travis Pastrana and Alberquerque again but couldn’t get past eventual winner Sebastien Ogier in the Quarters.

The Motors TV commentatary team regularly remarked that Andy’s stunning starts and tidy turns were honed on the hills!
