Wallace Menzies

Hard charger in unique car. Wallace climbed the hillclimb ranks North of the border in the Scottish Hillclimb Championship. Since first venturing to the English championship rounds Wallace has proved that he is a very committed driver who can learn hills quickly. He is currently developing the exquisitely built DJ Firestorm into the championship challenger that its promise suggests it is.

2011 Plans

The DJ has undertaken a wind tunnel-based, aero development program this winter which has seen an increase in downforce and a reduction in drag. As well as this, Wallace has had the engine enlarged to 3.2l in the search for more power. This year the Firestorm will be sporting the number 8, but has all that is required to climb the ranks further.

2011 Season

The more potent 2011 DJ Firestorm allowed Wallace to really step up his game. After his usual slow start to the championship, Wallace stormed the middle to end of the series to take a best ever fourth place overall as well as his first run off victories. 3 wins and 11 other podium spots during the season showed that Wallace should be a major contender for the top spot in 2012.

2012 Season

A very frustrating year.

After the highs of 2011 when he scored his first wins at National level, a lot was expected of Wallace Menzies and the DJ Firestorm. Unfortunately the combination failed to deliver consistently enough to put together a concerted Championship challenge.

In miserable condition, Wallace won the opening round at Prescott convincingly and it looked as though he had arrived as a genuine challenger. It also looked as though he had finally avoided the slow starts to the year that had cost him in 2010 & 2011. From then though, the Scot failed to get onto the podium again until Wiscombe Park, twenty rounds later.

A new, lighter chassis along with monoshock front suspension and different aero for Shelsley in August seemed to make things much better and Wallace’s confidence started to grow again.

He will definitely be in the mix in 2013, but he has to cut out the ‘zero’ scores if he is to put together a challenge for the top 3 overall.
