The Empire’s Wraith!

Hot on the heels of chassis 01 for Clive Austin and Chris Aspinall which debuted at Loton Park last month and chassis 02 which is being built for hillclimb returnee Phil Cooke, it seems as though more of the new Empire Wraith chassis are on the way.

The stunning little carbon-chassised cars, which have received F1 input in the design process, and currently feature 1100cc motorcycle engines have attracted a massive amount of attention since the prototype was revealed.

We now hear that there will be at least one more Wraith on the hills in 2014, with more to follow….

Current Empire 002 driver Simon Fidoe will be sharing a car with hillclimb newby Paul Knapp who has started competing this year with a 600cc Jedi.

The duo should go well in the car, Fidoe has been flying in the past 12 months or so with his space frame chassised Empire, and Knapp has a lot of driving experience in various toys.

The ‘Team Dog’ Empire-Suzuki 002 of Simon Fidoe is currently for sale if anyone is interested….

Also for sale from the Empire stable is the ‘works’ Empire Force DS which has been campaigned for a few years now by Empire boss Bill Chaplin and Moto GP commentator Toby Moody. The car was upgraded from 600cc to 1100cc spec over last winter and is for sale as a rolling chassis. Could the Chaplin/Moody pairing be eyeing one of the Wraith chassis for themselves or are we reading too much into this?

One thing is for sure though, exciting times are ahead for the Somerset company!
