Top Points for Thompson

Fired-up by his two Run Off appearances at Craigantlet in the British Hillclimb Championship last weekend, Graham Thompson charged to FTD at Garron Point Hillclimb this week.

The Mid Antrim Motor Club organised event produced a healthy 50 car entry and managed two practice and three timed runs at the challenging hill on the North East coast of Ireland.

The turbo-charged, self-built GTR of Thompson held off a determined challenge from Seamus Morris. The former Darrian driver closed his ex. Mason/Day Pilbeam-Millington MP62 to within a second of Thompson on the final runs.

Tins-tops (well, tin or glass tops!) took the next four places as David Francis (Escort Cosworth), Rudi Gage (Maguire Mini), John McKeown (Escort WRC) and Declan McNaughton (Escort Mk2) had a titanic battle over the final podium place.

Spelga Pass Hillclimb will be the next round of the ANICC Championship on August 25th.
