Tremendous Terres

The Guernsey Motor Cycle & Car Club hosted a Bank Holiday event at the Le Val Des Terres hill near St. Peter Port on Monday.

Paul Haimes Dallara F301

Darren Warwick's Dallara in the hands of former owner Paul Haimes

Great conditions greeted competitors for the one day event and records tumbled.

The biggest news of the day was the new 2-litre class record set by Darren Warwick. Pushing the ex. Paul Haimes Dallara to the max the local driver took nearly half a second off of his own existing record and even closed to within a couple of tenths of Martin Groves’ Unlimited Class Record. That was a mighty effort!

Fellow Dallara driver (this time the ex. Jason Carre F397) James Shorto claimed second overall, and was the only other driver on the day to run sub-30s.

A close scrap between Tim Torode (Mallock) and Nick Saunders (ReyNick) was settled in Saunders favour for the final spot the podium.

The other big news of the day was the appearance of infamous Guernsey hillclimb commentator Lee Corbet who wheeled out his Westfield, claimed the Roadgoing Specialist Production class win and set his first ever sub-40s run. Nice one Lee!
