Wee Beasty Heads for Home!

There was lots of paddock chatter over the past couple of weekends at the British & Midland Championship weekends at Shelsley Walsh and Loton Park about the forthcoming sale of one of the fastest 1600c Racing Cars around.

Steve Day GWR Raptor

Steve Day in the Wee-Beasty at Prescott in April.

Eighteen months ago we broke the story that the ex. Lee Adams GWR Raptor had been sold to Midlands hillclimb stalwart Steve Day, and now we have heard that the wee beasty is moving house again.

Having had a season and a half of great fun with the giant-killing Martin Ogilvie designed and Graeme Wight Jnr built car, Steve has decided that running a single-seater on his own is too hard work and is looking for a move back to the road-going classes.

Another man who has been looking for a new challenge, having had great success with his GWR Dax Rush in both Mod Prod and Road-Going in recent years, is Wee Hairy Les Mutch. Les was looking for a single-seater, and GWR is based close to his Scottish home, so the two struck a deal and we will see Les out in the original Raptor chassis shortly. And perhaps this arrangement will lead to us seeing Steve running the Dax in Class 1B in the future?

We are sure that both will have a ball with their new projects, and we look forward to seeing them on the hills soon. Let’s just hope that the brilliant @TheWeeRaptor Twitter feed transfers with the car!

nice to know it’s coming “home”.
The DAX which took another couple of class records this weekend in the sprints.
hoping it stays local too as the noise is something else :)
