Wiscombe Update…

Competitors will return to Wiscombe Park for the venues second weekend of action on Saturday and Sunday. Woolbridge Motor Club ran their traditional curtain raiser two weeks ago and suffered from similar weather conditions to the BHC contenders at Prescott.

Pilbeam MP58 driver Rodney Thorne took FTD in the wet on Saturday, ahead of Mike Lee and Terry Graves.

Overnight storms brought a couple of trees down on the hill and left the organisers with a serious amount of work to do in order to get the event running on Sunday. Unfortunately, it appears as though the efforts were in vain and combined with the dangerous conditions in the sloping paddock, lead to the event being cancelled mid-morning. This proved to be the correct decision as another tree fell near the track at lunchtime.

Hopefully Devon’s only remaining car hillclimb will have better luck with the weather for the two cracking events this weekend.

The 500 Owners Association will bring a mix of cars and bikes to the hill on Saturday, while the racing greats and the wierd creations of the VSCC make their annual visit on Sunday.
