Wiscombe Washout!

The tricky, parkland hillclimb at Wiscombe Park in East Devon hosted the annual 500 Owners Association hillclimb last Saturday as a warm-up for the very popular VSCC event on the Sunday.

South West superstar Ed ‘Kimi’ Hollier stormed to his fifth consecutive FTD of the season with his gorgeous Suzuki-powered Pilbeam MP62, although on this occasion he didn’t quite have the hot competition that he has seen off in recent weeks.

In terrible conditions at the hill, Ed nailed a 39.28s time which was 5 seconds faster than the next fastest competitor, and 5.5 seconds faster than the next fastest car!

Second overall fell to the ever impressive KTM Super Moto bike of former National Champion Martin Robins. Martin was just a head of a very close battle for third overall between the Hondas of Tom Short, Pete short and Glyn Poole.

John Hewitt was the second quickest car on the day with his lovely Chevron B27 Formula 2 car.

Unfortunately there was a major incident on the hill at the end of the day when our ‘Responsible Adult’ Jo Hodgson attacked the rhododendrons at Sawbench after a tank-slapperĀ coming out of The Esses. The King Mews Elan is looking a little sorry for itself at the moment with a little superficial damage, but thankfully Jo Jo is perfectly ok.
